The Yogi Diet

Did you know that approximately 70 percent of Americans’ body mass index is too high, and more than 60 percent of Americans suffer from digestive disorders? Unhealthy eating habits are the root cause of major and minor imbalances and diseases, and the Yogi Diet can help.

The Yogi Diet is an informative interactive workshop (not a physical practice), appropriate for all. The teachings are based on modern integrative medicine, research findings, and the wisdom from the ancient Indian life science known as Ayurveda, also called yoga’s sister science.

We will highlight Ayurvedic and yogic viewpoints regarding consumption that affect not only physical, but mental and spiritual well-being. For example, Ayurveda teaches that all physical and most mental disorders originate in the gut (and recent understanding of the gut micro-biome theory corroborates this concept).

To fully understand this, we will take tests to identify our likely doshic constitutions and how we can be more balanced through our lifestyle and dietary habits.

Additionally, we will discuss the importance of the yogi’s first commandment, ahimsa (non-violence) as well as sattvic foods (pure soothing and energetically-balanced), and mindfulness at mealtimes or when snacking. To help put any of the tips into practice, everyone will receive handouts with information, reminders, and recipes.

Plus, participants can savor delicious high-protein, low-sugar, vegan, gluten-free bliss balls made with spices and adaptogens widely recommended by Ayurvedic practitioners.
