Did you know approximately 100 million Americans experience chronic pain? That’s more than those with diabetes, heart disease, and cancer combined. The most common area for pain? Not surprising for me, it’s the back.
“My favorite childhood memory is my back not hurting,” said a meme.
But that’s not my story. I developed both chronic back pain and a painful digestive disorder as a kid. Today, I take zero meds and feel no pain. As mentioned in my book, “From the Boxing Ring to the Ashram,” I’m thankful that I was diagnosed with two chronic issues when I was so young. Early awareness and intervention led me to drug-free, holistic solutions. My disorders will never disappear. But pain has. That’s why pain management is a specialty area of mine, and why I wrote a self-help book that hopes to help others dealing with different types of pain.

My book was featured on the main page and side bar on three high authority blogs this month. BitGog said, "Life often feels like a never-ending match. Some days you’re dodging blows, and other days you’re pushing through exhaustion. Deborah Charnes understands this struggle, which is why she wrote From the Boxing Ring to the Ashram: Wisdom for Mind, Body and Spirit. Her book is a celebration of resilience and balance, designed for people who want to care for themselves physically, emotionally, and spiritually without adding extra stress.
"The book blends storytelling, science, and spiritual teachings into a single guide for well-being. What makes it stand out is the diversity of voices that shaped its pages. Deborah introduces readers to twelve mentors who taught her valuable lessons. Some are spiritual leaders, others are health professionals or athletes. What connects them is their commitment to living with intention and helping others do the same."

I was thrilled that Better Auds, a beloved haven for those passionate about books and music, highlighted my book. The blog headline read, "Deborah Charnes’ From the Boxing Ring to the Ashram: Wisdom for Mind, Body and Spirit Wins Hearts Across the Globe." The BetterAuds writer said, "The book addresses modern struggles that many face—PTSD, anxiety, depression, chronic pain, and even digestive issues. Deborah’s blend of storytelling, science, and spiritual wisdom makes this book stand out in the self-help space. It offers hope, encouragement, and practical steps for anyone ready to embrace a healthier lifestyle." Read the full article here.
The mission of PaxJones is to inspire, educate, and make a positive impact in the world. Same as mine. Following are short excerpts from their article on my book.
"One of the most striking features of this book is how usable the tips are... she offers manageable habits that fit into everyday schedules."
"The message is that wellness doesn’t require a dramatic lifestyle change. By adding small, thoughtful actions, anyone can nurture resilience and clarity."
"The recognition for her book reflects that commitment. From the Boxing Ring to the Ashram has won multiple international awards, including two gold medals from the Florida Authors and Publishers Association, plus honors from the International Latino Book Awards. These accolades highlight the book’s ability to connect with readers and offer genuine tools for transformation."

Following is a review from a reader in the U.K.
"From the beginning, I enjoyed the author’s narrative. You could see the experience and knowledge that she has gained throughout the years. Using her own experience, the stories of others and tips that she and others have found helpful. From the Boxing Ring to the Ashram is a must-read for anyone who works on self development or is starting a journey of personal growth as you will find many examples, tips and techniques that you will find beneficial and understand how and why to use them.., you will find something in this book that will help you.”
And remember, pain can be physical, but there's also emotional pain.
