Yoga for Women: Rethink it

Yoga for Women: Not One-Size Fits All

Yoga for women? Although the majority of people filling yoga studios in the West nowadays are female, yoga traditionally was practiced only by men. Women may no longer be trapped by gender roles, but that doesn’t always mean what’s best for guys is best for the gals.

Over the last year, I’ve spent a significant amount of professional development time dedicated to therapeutic yoga for women in different stages of life. This runs the gamut from prenatal to post-menopause, fertility, and the pelvic floor, as well as zeroing in on differences during one’s monthly cycle.

I Listen with Love to my Body’s Messages*

connect with nature and the moon cycleModern women too often try to fit a linear paradigm that doesn’t support their bodies and psyches.  Most of us ignore nature’s body clocks and rarely tune in to the rhythm of the moon, sun, and planets. Unfortunately, this can lead to imbalances, discomfort, and disease. A scary statistic: In 2021, 14.6 percent of American women over age 18, and 42 percent of those over 75, had undergone a hysterectomy. After C-sections, hysterectomy is the most common invasive surgery performed on women. Both procedures are often unnecessary. I can attest Ob/Gyns recommended the two operations to me when other providers would have resorted to more gentle approaches.

That’s why I created FEMININE FLOW, a 90-minute workshop in which I share key insights into yoga for women. And it goes way beyond yoga into daily activities depending on one's moon cycle or reproductive life changes.

I Balance My Masculine and Feminine Sides*

I tap into my Ayurvedic foundations plus my studies with Ana Davis, author of “Moving with the Moon: Yoga, Movement and Meditation for Every Phase of your Menstrual Cycle and Beyond.”

In this 90-minute workshop, I share key learnings about how women should modify their yoga practice AND daily activities depending on their moon cycle or life stages, e.g., pregnancy, postpartum, or menopause. Following the knowledge-sharing and discussion, I will guide participants through a customizable gentle practice that includes mudras and mantras.

I Love My Body*
